No worries. I've edited post 2 for this.
I make it a = -4/10 and I've checked it back in the cubics.
Maybe you should post your expressions for r and s.

Do a similar thing for the other and then substitute into the equation for r and s to get a

and are divided by (x+1) and (x-2) respectively and 2r + s = 6Then find the value of a
P.S: Sorry it should have been x + 1
