beat ya mathsy

Yes, you're 3 seconds faster than me. Well done.

]]>Just put 8/100 (simplified as 2/25) and you will find out that fraction is equal to .08

Multiply .08 by 20 to get 1.6

Or you could simply move the decimal point... 8% is technically 8.0%, and if you want to convert that to a decimal, move the decimal point to spaces to the left, making it .08, and multiply that by 20 to get 1.6.

Other examples of moving the decimal point are 50% is equal to 50.0% move it 2 to the left and you get .5... .5 is equal to 1/2 and half of 20 is 10, so 50% of 20 would be 10.

]]>£20 ÷ 100 = 20p.

Then multiply by the percentage.

20p x 8 = 160p = £1.60.

]]>20/100 = 0.2 (20 pence) == 1% of £20

now multiply this by 8 to find 8%.]]>

If you do, then I think this will help you:

You can also look at it as 1/2 (one divided by two) = 0.5! 1.00 is the whole cake and 0.50 is half of it i.e. 50%.

Go to www.google.com and have a look for GCSE mathematics material and I'm sure you will come up trumps.

P.S. GCSE is the british exams that all state school children take at around 16 years of age.
