If I am right ( what are the chances ) it is self evident. It says add up what is in each bin and you should have the total number.

Here is how I see it:

If n is the total number of observations, and k is the number of bins, then mi is the number in each bin or frequency.

We say that histogram is the counts of observation in bins.

So Let say if bins are from 0 to 179. then what does mean by mi in the formula?

i think n is the counts of observation.
