Not a lot. I was brought up on English, I can get by in French and a bit in German. When in Italy I found I only needed one word 'prego'. It seemed to work for most things.
I went to the US last autumn and that was interesting ... to hear what the colonists had done to the mother tongue in a few hundred years.
Here's a small joke based on the idea of 'divided by a common language':
An Australian goes on a trip to New York. On the sidewalk he wants to cross over so he runs across the road. A policeman stops him at the other side and points to the DONT WALK sign. 'Hey, didn't you see the sign' The Australian says 'Yes, I saw the sign. That's why I ran!
Oh yes, I did try to learn Russian but it was a struggle. I can remember three words (well strictly it's four)
нет, до свидания, девушка
but not necessarily in that order!

]]>Welcome to the forum. Nice shots of 51. The article is slightly in error. Yes, the area is radioactive but not from a nuclear test but rather from an accident.

]]>i love maths and computers and in fact i am hobbyist programmer. i was attracted towards the beauty of trigonometry and quadratic equations a bit late (long after i had crossed school) but today i am an ardent lover. i hope i will find help to all my mathematical problems from gurus here.. and also promise to help (as far as i can) anybody who asks for it.
so let's share knowledge with each other!
thanks and regards
